Northern sky
beckons a blue welcome,
delicious crunchy
forest floor
soften the boot steps
as I walk
on familiar terrain,
finding signs of spring
like treasure
scattered generously
sprouting acorns, budding snowdrops
shy long buds on beech,
birdsong – the special one
at evening and daybreak,
beloved forest
that I know so well
and whose song
echoes in my heart
it is a gift – precious and cherished
to stand here
and breath with you
the sweet sweet early spring air
